What should a clinic website look like? A checklist that follows Turkish health advertising rules
Patients look you up online first. A clinic website should give them accurate information, and do it within the rules for promoting health services. This article covers both.
In short
- A clinic website should have at least a doctor or clinic profile, treatment pages, a treatment process page, frequently asked questions, contact details with a map, a KVKK privacy notice, a cookie policy and a patient rights page.
- In Türkiye, advertising health services is prohibited while informing patients is allowed: claims of superiority, guaranteed results, prices and campaigns, before-and-after images and using patient reviews for promotion are left out.
- The title "specialist" (uzman) is only used for a documented specialty; words such as "painless", "guaranteed", "the best" and "free" should be avoided.
- When you edit content in the Heyşirket panel, the Health advertising rules check on the SEO tab flags such words as well as price and before-and-after patterns.
- A clinic site is free to set up on the Starter plan; online booking with day and time selection and reviews are in Professional, and the appointment tracking system is in Premium.
Someone with a toothache searches "dentist near me" on their phone at night. A patient referred to physiotherapy looks up the clinic before the first session. Both want the same thing: who, where, what they do and how to book. A clinic website should answer these questions clearly and in a way that builds trust.
In healthcare there's a second side. In Türkiye, advertising health services is prohibited, while informing patients is allowed. So your site should inform patients, but it shouldn't try to persuade them with campaigns, promises or other patients' reviews. In this article we first cover which pages you need, then what not to write, and finally how the Heyşirket panel helps you with this.
Part 1 · Purpose What does a clinic website do?
A clinic site has three jobs. Being found: when a patient searches for a treatment or a doctor in your area, your page should come up. Informing: what the treatment is, how it's done, how long it takes and who it suits should be explained in plain language. Being reachable: phone, address, working hours and the way to book should be visible at first glance.
These three jobs are the same for a doctor's website, a dentist's website or a physiotherapy website. What differs is the content of the treatment pages and how bookings work; we'll come back to those below.
Part 2 · Pages Which pages should a clinic website have?
| Page | What it covers | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Homepage | Clinic name, what you do, contact details and how to book | Phone and address visible on the first screen |
| About us and the doctor | The doctor's name, title, training, the clinic | Titles written exactly as on the certificate |
| Treatment pages | A separate page per treatment: what, for whom, how, how long | No promised results and no prices |
| Treatment process | Steps from examination to follow-up | Stays general and informative |
| Frequently asked questions | The questions patients ask most often on the phone | Short, neutral answers |
| Contact and map | Address, phone, working hours, directions | Same details as your Google Business Profile |
| KVKK privacy notice and cookie policy | Which data the forms collect and why | Forms don't ask for health information |
| Patient rights | Rights and complaint routes under the Patient Rights Regulation | A footer link is enough |
When you set up a clinic-type site in Heyşirket, the About us, Treatment process, Contact, KVKK privacy notice, Cookie policy and Patient rights pages come ready with sample text. Sample texts start with an "ÖRNEK" (sample) marker; replace them with your own details before going live and have the legal texts checked by a lawyer. KVKK is Türkiye's personal data protection law.
Part 3 · Rules What do health advertising rules keep off your site?
The basic principle in promoting health services is this: you may inform patients, but you may not advertise in a way that creates demand. In practice, the most common problem phrases and what to write instead are:
| Don't write | Why | Instead |
|---|---|---|
| "The best clinic in the area", "leader", "number one" | Claim of superiority or comparison | State neutrally which treatments you provide |
| "Guaranteed results", "100% success", "painless treatment" | Promised outcome | Describe the process, the possible options and the risks |
| "Implant 15,000 TL", "campaign", "discount", "free check-up" | Price and incentive | A neutral call such as "call us for information" |
| Before-and-after photos | Creating demand by showing results | Text or illustrations explaining how the treatment is done |
| "Our patients' reviews", thank-you letters | Using patient statements for promotion | Don't use reviews for promotion |
| An undocumented "specialist" title | Misleading title | Write the title exactly as on the certificate |
Part 4 · Content How do you write a treatment page?
Treatment pages are the most useful pages for patients and the ones most often found on Google. Open a separate page for each treatment; when a patient searches "how is a root canal done", they land directly on that page. A good treatment page follows this order:
- What is the treatment? A plain definition in two or three sentences.
- Who is it for? Which complaints it's considered for, and when the doctor might suggest another route.
- How is it done? Examination, planning, treatment and follow-up steps.
- How long does it take? Number of sessions and time range, noting that it varies by person.
- What should you watch for? General aftercare advice and possible side effects.
- Frequently asked questions. The three questions you hear most on the phone.
In Heyşirket, treatments are added on the Content › Treatment pages screen: treatment name, short description, detailed content, category and image. Right below the detailed content field there's a reminder that superiority, guarantees, prices and before-and-after content are not written. If the content was read by a doctor before publishing, tick Reviewed by the doctor; the reviewing doctor's name and the date appear on the page. Step-by-step guide in the panel: Help › Service and treatment pages.
Part 5 · Checks How does the panel check your text?
Knowing the rules is one thing; remembering them all while writing is another. When you edit a page, post or treatment in the Heyşirket panel, the content analysis on the SEO tab includes a Health advertising rules section. The title, SEO title, description and body text are scanned together.
- Flagged Turkish words include the equivalents of "the best", "the cheapest", "cheap", "guarantee", "painless", "100%", "specialist", "campaign", "discount", "free" and "leader".
- Phrases with a number followed by TL or lira are flagged as prices.
- The "before after" pattern is caught separately.
- If a problem phrase is found, the analysis shows a warning that the text may conflict with health advertising rules, lists the words, and the content's SEO score can't go above 49.
This check is a reminder, not legal approval. The word "specialist" may be correct for a documented specialty; the panel flags it anyway so you take a second look. The decision is yours and, if needed, your professional chamber's.
Part 6 · Professions What should dentist and physiotherapy websites watch for?
Dentist website
In dentistry, patients often search by treatment name: implants, root canal treatment, orthodontics, teeth whitening. Open a separate treatment page for each. The most common mistakes are before-and-after comparisons with smile photos and publishing a price list; both run into the rules for promoting health services. Instead, explain the treatment steps and use images of the clinic environment or illustrations of the treatment.
Physiotherapy website
In physiotherapy, patients usually come for several sessions. Explain on your site how sessions are planned, what happens in a session and what to bring. Phrases like "guaranteed recovery" or "pain gone after the first session" are promised outcomes and are left out. For clinics that work in sessions, recurring appointments in the Premium appointment tracking system put a plan like "10 sessions" on the calendar in one go.
Part 7 · Contact Bookings, reviews and personal data
The way to book should be clear on a clinic site. On the free Starter plan, booking requests come through contact and "call me back" forms. Online booking with day and time selection is in Professional, and the appointment tracking system with doctor columns, reminders and WhatsApp approval is in Premium. Details: online appointment system.
Be careful with reviews. With the review feature in the Professional plan, every review first goes to an approval queue and doesn't appear on your site until you approve it. But in health promotion, using patient reviews and thank-you notes for promotional purposes is considered problematic. If you run a clinic, check your professional rules before featuring reviews on your site. When replying to a review, don't confirm that the person is your patient or mention their diagnosis or treatment; simply say thank you.
Don't ask for health information in forms. Even a booking request and the chosen treatment can indirectly count as health data, which is why the sample KVKK privacy notice Heyşirket prepares for clinics has a separate section on health data. When you fill in your legal details under Settings › General › Privacy, the trade name, address and contact fields in the notice fill in automatically.
Part 8 · Visibility Technical checks for being found on Google
Most clinic searches are local. The name, address and phone on your site should match your Google Business Profile exactly. In Heyşirket you enter these once on the Business profile screen; the header, footer, map and forms use the same details, and the local business structured data for Google is generated from them too.
The Local SEO screen in the Professional plan compares your business profile with the live version of your site and its structured data, and lists any inconsistencies. You manage your Google Business Profile yourself; the panel doesn't post there automatically. To connect Search Console and get started with SEO, see first steps with the SEO center.
Clinic website checklist
- Phone, address and the way to book are visible on the homepage's first screen.
- Each treatment has its own informative page, with no prices or promised results.
- Doctors' titles are written exactly as on their certificates.
- No before-and-after images and no patient reviews used for promotion.
- No warnings remain in the Health advertising rules check on the SEO tab.
- The KVKK privacy notice, cookie policy and patient rights pages are filled in and linked in the footer.
- Forms don't ask for health information.
- Name, address and phone match your Google Business Profile.
- You've opened the site on a phone and sent a test booking request.
Can I list prices on a clinic website?
In promoting health services in Türkiye, announcing prices, campaigns and discounts is considered demand-creating and is generally left out. Instead of a price, use a neutral phrase inviting patients to call for information. For the rule specific to your profession, ask your professional chamber.
Is it prohibited to share before-and-after photos?
Before-and-after comparisons are considered contrary to the rules for promoting health services because they create demand by showing results. Text and illustrations explaining how the treatment is done are a safer route.
Can I use the word "specialist" on my site?
Only if you have a documented specialty, and in the form shown on the certificate. Calling yourself a "specialist doctor" or "specialist in the field" without a specialty certificate may be considered a misleading title.
Does Heyşirket guarantee that my text complies with the rules?
No. The Health advertising rules check in the panel is a reminder that flags common problem words, price and before-and-after patterns. Compliance of the text with the rules is the site owner's responsibility.
Does it cost money to build a clinic website?
In Heyşirket, a clinic-type site is free to set up on the Starter plan, with treatment pages, the business profile and form requests included. Online booking with day and time selection and reviews are in Professional, and the appointment tracking system is in Premium.
