Restaurant website: online menu, reservations and example site structures

Guests look you up on their phone, check the menu, glance at the hours and decide. This article covers what a restaurant or café site needs to show in those few seconds.

In short

Someone looking for a place for dinner checks three or four restaurants on the map. On each they look for the same things: menu, prices, is it open, where is it, can I book. The place that gives this information fastest often wins. That's why a restaurant website should be simple, fast and up to date.

In this article we cover what a restaurant or café site needs, how to publish an online menu, how to take bookings and example site structures for different kinds of venues. At the end we state plainly which Heyşirket plan you can do each of these on.

Part 1 · Basics What should a restaurant website include?

Most visitors to a restaurant site look on their phone, on the move or just before deciding. So the important information belongs on the first screen, with long introductions further down.

The core parts of a restaurant site
PartWhat it showsWhy it matters
First screenVenue name, one good photo, "Menu" and "Book" buttonsThe guest's two main tasks in one tap
MenuCategories, dish name, short description, priceDecisions are mostly made from the menu
Opening hoursHours by day, open today or not"Are you open now?" is the most common question
Location and contactAddress, map, phone, directionsThe phone number should be one tap away
ReservationsA date, time and party size form, or a phone numberCuts down phone calls
About and photosKitchen, venue, teamTrust and atmosphere
Legal pagesKVKK privacy notice (Türkiye's data protection law), cookie policyNeeded because the form collects data

The address, phone and hours should match your Google Business Profile exactly. We explain opening a profile and picking the right category in how to create a Google Business Profile.

Part 2 · Menu How do you publish an online menu?

The most common mistake is putting the menu up as a PDF or photo. A PDF has to be zoomed and scrolled on a phone, a photo is hard to read, and neither is read well by Google. When prices change, it has to be redesigned. An online menu should be published as text.

  1. Split it into categories: Starters, mains, desserts, drinks. Let them show as tabs on phones.
  2. Four pieces of information per item: Name, a two-line description or ingredients, price, and portion size if needed.
  3. Mark preferences: Labels such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and spicy help guests find what they're looking for quickly.
  4. Hide dishes that run out: If you hide instead of deleting, you bring them back with one click when the season comes round.
  5. Update prices in one place: The menu on the site, on the table and behind the QR code should show the same price.

Part 3 · Reservations How do you take reservations on the site?

For a small café, a phone number may be enough. For a restaurant that fills up in the evenings, a booking form cuts phone traffic considerably. Date, time, party size, name and phone are enough; add a notes box for things like birthdays or a high chair.

Confirming the request is your job. When a request arrives, call or message the guest back, and leave a clear note under the form such as "we'll get back to you to confirm your booking". That way guests don't assume the table is guaranteed the moment they submit.

A separate page for group dinners, birthdays and company events also helps. Say how many people you can host, whether there's a set menu and how many days' notice you need; requests then arrive much clearer.

Part 4 · Examples Restaurant website examples: three different structures

Not every venue needs the same site. The three example structures below are based on the restaurant themes in Heyşirket; pick the one closest to your venue and adapt it.

Example site structure by type of venue
VenueKey sectionsExample theme
Restaurant, meyhane, fine diningFull-screen opening, tabbed menu, tasting menus, special evenings, table bookingSofra: dark and elegant
Café, bakery, patisserieMenu cards with photos, today's specials, workshops, opening hoursDemlik: warm cream tones
Neighbourhood eatery, mostly takeawayShort price list, opening hours, phone and map, reviewsAny plain theme

What the examples share: the menu and contact details always come first, long story texts always last. Make sure the photos are really of your venue; stock photos disappoint guests.

Part 5 · Visibility How does a restaurant site get found in search?

Most restaurant searches are local: "breakfast near me", "fish restaurant kadıköy", "café open now". In these searches the business card on the map and the site work together. The card links to your site, and if the site gives the same information as the card, it's easier for Google to understand your business correctly.

In Heyşirket, your business profile generates the site's local business structured data. The local SEO screen in the Professional plan checks whether the name, address and phone are consistent everywhere on the site; details on the local SEO page. You manage your Google Business Profile yourself; the panel doesn't post to it automatically.

Part 6 · Setup How do you build a restaurant website in Heyşirket?

In Heyşirket every company has one company panel; website, email and pre-accounting live in the same place. When you choose the "Restaurant and café" type while setting up, the panel suggests features that suit it.

Step by step: a restaurant site

  1. Open your company panel

On the start for free page, enter your venue's name and choose Restaurant and café as the site type.

  2. Fill in the business profile

Enter the name, address, phone, map location and opening hours once on the Business profile screen. The header, footer, map and forms use this information; the Opening hours section highlights today and shows whether you're open or closed right now.

  3. Add the menu

On the Starter plan you can add the Price list section to the home page and publish a simple menu by entering group, name, description and price. On the Professional plan, install the Food menu feature: categories become tabs on the site, each item gets a price, an image and New, Chef's pick, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-free and Spicy labels, and dishes that run out are hidden without deleting them.

  4. Turn on reservations

Choose Table reservation in a page's Form on this page field; requests land on the Requests screen. An online booking form with date and time selection is in the Professional plan.

  5. Connect reviews and Instagram

On the Professional plan, put the review collection link and QR code at the till; reviews appear on the site after you approve them. With the Instagram feed, your latest posts show on the site too.

Step-by-step guide in the panel: Help › Feature store. For details on collecting reviews see collecting customer reviews, and for the date and time form see the online appointment system page.

Restaurant website checklist

Should a restaurant website have its menu as a PDF?

No, publishing it as text is better. A text menu is easy to read on a phone, is read by search engines and can be updated in one place without a redesign when prices change.

Are QR menus legal in Türkiye?

Yes. Under the October 2025 amendment to the Price Tag Regulation, food and drink businesses may also present their price list by QR code. However, if a customer asks, the price list must also be shown in print.

Does Heyşirket have a QR menu?

There is no separate QR menu tool in the panel. You publish your menu on a page of your site and turn that page's address into a QR code; as the menu is updated on the site, the code opens the current menu.

Can I publish an online menu on the free plan?

Yes. On the free Starter plan you publish a grouped menu with the Price list section. The Food menu feature, with categories as tabs, images and labels, is in the Professional plan.

Are requests from the booking form confirmed automatically?

No. A request from the table booking form lands on the Requests screen and you're notified by email. You get back to the guest and confirm the table yourself; it's best to say on the form how this works.

Bring your menu to your site Open the categories, enter dishes with their prices and update them in one place when prices change. Go to the menu

If you don't have a site yet, see what comes ready on the website page, or start for free.
