What should a psychologist's website look like? A safe site for therapists and counsellors

Clients often visit a psychologist's site during a difficult time, and the first thing they look for is trust. This article describes a site that builds that trust while respecting promotion rules and personal data obligations.

In short

Someone visiting a psychologist's site is often not going through an easy time. They may have thought about it for a long while, perhaps deciding to seek support for the first time. What they look for is not a glossy pitch but quiet trust: who this person is, how they work, what sessions are like and how to get in touch.

A psychologist website has to answer these questions while respecting two lines. The first is the promotion rules for health services, the second is personal data protection. This article covers what a counsellor website or therapist website should and should not contain, how to set up the appointment form and how to open such a site in Heyşirket.

Part 1 · Purpose What is a psychologist's website for?

A psychologist's site is not there to persuade people into becoming clients, but to make it easy for the right person to reach you. A doctor, a friend or a relative has recommended you; the client searches your name and lands on your site. There they see your education, the areas you work in and how sessions run.

A good therapist site also eases the anxiety before a first session. When it explains how the first session goes, how long it lasts, how confidentiality is protected and what the cancellation and fee rules are, clients come more at ease. And you don't have to explain the same things from scratch every time.

Part 2 · Pages Which pages should a psychologist's site have?

Core pages of a psychologist or therapist site
PageWhat goes on itWatch out
HomeName, title, a short calm introduction, contactNo slogans or promises
AboutEducation, title, training received, approachTitle exactly as on the diploma
Areas of workIndividual, couples, family, child and adolescent workNo treatment or outcome claims
Session formatSession length, frequency, in person or online, cancellation rulesClear and short
ArticlesGeneral psychoeducation articlesNo real client stories
FAQFirst session, confidentiality, fee principles, emergenciesWhere to go in a crisis
ContactAddress, phone, email, appointment formThe form doesn't ask about the concern
KVKK privacy notice and cookie policyWhich data is collected and why (KVKK is Türkiye's data protection law)Linked in the footer

Part 3 · Rules What can't a psychologist write in their promotion?

Mental health services are subject to health service promotion rules, and professional associations' ethical principles also call for restraint. The core principle: inform, don't promise, don't compare. The most common mistakes in practice:

Don't write / write this instead
Don't writeWhyInstead
"Certain freedom from anxiety", "results in 5 sessions"Promise of resultsDescribe your method and the process
"The best psychologist in town"Superiority claimDescribe your education and areas of work plainly
"Specialist psychologist" (without a specialist certificate)Titles must be backed by documentsWrite the title as on your diploma
Client reviews and thank-you messagesUsing client statements in promotionDon't use a reviews section
"First session free", discount campaignsAttracting clients through priceDescribe your fee principles neutrally
Client stories, case descriptionsConfidentiality and risk of identificationArticles with general information

The content analysis in the company panel flags such phrases. Words such as "en iyi" (the best), "garanti" (guarantee), "uzman" (specialist), "ücretsiz" (free) and "kampanya" (campaign), and patterns such as "danışan yorumları" (client reviews), appear as regulatory warnings in a page's SEO analysis. Heyşirket offers customer review collection and platform rating display in the Professional plan; they are not suitable for a psychologist's site, so don't install them.

Part 4 · Title Psychologist, clinical psychologist, counsellor: how should you write your title?

These three titles are not the same and depend on education. A person with a psychology degree uses the title psychologist; someone with a master's or doctorate in clinical psychology uses clinical psychologist. Graduates of psychological counselling and guidance use psychological counsellor. So that clients go to the right person, write your title exactly as on your diploma.

Additional training, such as a certificate programme in a therapy approach, can be listed under education with the name on the certificate. Don't use it as a title. Saying "trained in ..." is more accurate than "... therapist".

Part 5 · Form and data Appointment form and client confidentiality

Name, phone, optionally email and a suitable time are enough on the appointment form. Don't ask about the issue they want to discuss, a diagnosis or medication. That is health data; collecting it through a web form creates needless risk. You ask in the first session.

For personal data texts see the KVKK-compliant website page, and for how online booking works see online appointment system. We cover the general structure of health sites in what a clinic website should look like.

Part 6 · Setup How do you build a psychologist's site in Heyşirket?

In Heyşirket every company has one company panel and the website is one of its modules. The Denge theme, in calm green tones, comes with methods, a session list with durations, process steps, team and appointment sections; it was designed for physiotherapists, dietitians and psychologists. The Kişisel theme is a narrow, airy layout that puts the person first.

A psychologist's site in five steps

  1. Open your company panel

Start for free and choose the Denge or Kişisel theme.

  2. Write About and areas of work

Describe your education, title and areas of work in neutral language. If there are several therapists, open a page for each with Ekip profilleri (Team profiles).

  3. Add FAQs

Answer questions about the first session, session length, confidentiality, cancellations and emergencies.

  4. Keep the form simple

Ask only for name, phone and a suitable time in the contact or appointment form. On the Professional plan you can turn on the online appointment form where clients pick a day and time.

  5. Connect your domain and email

Connect a domain in your name and open an email address on it. Details: business email.

Step-by-step guide in the panel: Help › Personal data and KVKK. Everything that comes ready for psychologists is on the Heyşirket for psychologists page.

Part 7 · Running the practice After the site: session packages and invoices

In Professional and above, pre-accounting is included with no separate subscription. When you choose psychologist as your profession, screens say Client and the default unit is the session. Ready-made services such as individual, couples, family, child and adolescent and online sessions, and psychological testing and assessment, are added in one tap. You can sell a session package, deduct a session each time and get a reminder two sessions before it runs out.

For professions that handle health data, the panel reminds you not to write diagnoses or treatments in notes. Use a general description such as "psychotherapy session" on the invoice; don't write the topic discussed. Self-employed psychologists in Türkiye usually issue a self-employment receipt (serbest meslek makbuzu); e-SMM, its electronic form, is not available in Heyşirket yet. See the e-SMM guide and confirm which document you should issue with your mali müşavir (certified accountant).

Psychologist website checklist

What should a psychologist's website include?

Name and title, education, areas of work, session format, FAQs, contact details and a KVKK privacy notice. It should not contain promised outcomes, superiority claims, client testimonials or case stories. Saying where to go in an emergency is also important.

Can a psychologist's site publish client reviews?

No, it is not recommended. Using client reviews and thank-you messages in promotion conflicts with health promotion rules and the principle of confidentiality. Don't use a reviews or ratings section on the site.

Can I ask about the client's concern on the appointment form?

It is better not to. Mental health information is special category personal data under KVKK. Name, phone and a suitable time are enough on the form; you discuss the concern in the first session.

Are psychological counsellor and psychologist the same title?

No. In Türkiye the psychologist title is based on a psychology degree and the psychological counsellor title on psychological counselling and guidance; clinical psychologist requires postgraduate study in clinical psychology. Write your title on the site exactly as on your diploma.

Which Heyşirket plan does a psychologist's site need?

The site, the Denge and Kişisel themes, articles, FAQs and a contact form are on the free Starter plan. The online appointment form, pre-accounting and session packages are in the Professional plan: 699.99 TL/month or 6,999.90 TL/year, VAT included.
