What should a business website look like? A page-by-page checklist
Your business website is your company's address on the internet. Customers, suppliers and even your bank look at it. We explain which page belongs there and why, one by one.
In short
- A business website is a company's official online address: it explains who the company is, what it does and how to reach it, and it collects enquiries.
- Core pages: homepage, about us, a separate page per service, team, contact, a KVKK privacy notice and a cookie policy; references, FAQ and a blog are added as needed.
- Any site that collects personal data through a form must publish a privacy notice under KVKK, Türkiye's data protection law; service providers selling online must show their trade name, address and contact details under Law No. 6563.
- In Heyşirket, a business site is set up on the free Starter plan; About us, Our services, Our team, Contact, KVKK privacy notice and Cookie policy pages come ready with sample text.
- An email address on your own domain, such as info@, can be opened on the Starter plan with 1 address; the page builder and request management are in Professional, and multilingual sites in Premium.
When someone is about to work with a company for the first time, they type its name into Google. If the site they find is outdated, broken on a phone or half finished, the first impression is weak no matter how well your company actually works. A business website puts that first impression in your hands.
A good business site doesn't have to be big or expensive. The right pages, clear language and complete legal details are enough. In this article we go through what a business website should look like, page by page; at the end there's a checklist you can tick off item by item.
Part 1 · Definition What is a business website?
A business website is a company's official online address that explains who it is, which services it provides and how to reach it. The difference from an online store is that its goal isn't direct sales but trust and enquiries: visitors get to know you, become convinced, fill in the form or call.
A business site speaks to three audiences at once. Customers look for your services and how to get a quote. Partners and suppliers check your trade name, address and how long you've been operating. Job candidates look at your team and how you work. Build your pages so they answer these three questions.
Part 2 · Pages What should a business website look like? Page by page
| Page | What it should have | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Homepage | What you do in one sentence, main services, why you, how to get in touch | A slideshow and general slogans with no concrete information |
| About us | Founding, who you serve, how you work | Copy-paste corporate phrases |
| Services | A separate page per service: what, for whom, how, process | Listing all services as bullet points on a single page |
| Team | Managers and key people with their roles | A faceless, nameless "expert staff" line |
| References | Customer names or project examples you have permission to use | Using logos without permission |
| FAQ | Common questions on quotes, timing and payment | Missing or overly long answers |
| Contact | Phone, email, address, map, working hours, form | Only a form, no phone or address |
| KVKK privacy notice | Which data the form collects, why and for how long | A text copied from another site with the wrong trade name |
| Cookie policy | Which cookies are used and how to set preferences | A consent banner without cookies, or cookies without a banner |
Part 3 · Homepage What should be on the homepage?
The homepage is a summary page; it sends visitors to the relevant page. From top to bottom, this order works for most companies:
- Hero: one sentence saying what you do and an action button (Request a quote, Call us).
- Services: 3 to 6 main services, each linked to its own page.
- Why us: concrete differences such as founding year, service area and way of working.
- References or sample work: customer names you have permission to use, or project images.
- FAQ: questions about quotes and the process.
- Contact: phone, address, map and a short form.
In Heyşirket you show, hide and drag homepage sections into order with a live preview on the Design › Customize screen. Details: homepage sections.
Part 4 · Legal Which legal details should a business site include?
Legal pages are the most neglected part of business sites. Yet every site with a contact form collects personal data, and that needs a legal basis.
- KVKK privacy notice: if your form collects data such as name, phone and email, Article 10 of Law No. 6698 (KVKK) requires you to publish a text explaining who the data controller is, why the data is processed and what rights people have.
- Cookie policy: explains which cookies the site uses and how visitors can manage their preferences. Consent is requested for non-essential cookies.
- Company details: if you sell goods or services online, Article 3 of Law No. 6563 requires your trade name, MERSİS (central registry) or tax number, address and contact details to be easily accessible on the site.
- Capital companies subject to independent audit: under Article 1524 of the Turkish Commercial Code, they must open a website and set aside a section for legally required announcements.
When you set up a business site in Heyşirket, the KVKK privacy notice and Cookie policy pages come as templates. You enter your trade name, MERSİS number, address and KVKK request email once in the legal details under Settings › General › Privacy, and the matching places in the text fill in automatically. The template isn't legal advice; complete the bracketed notes for your own processes and have a lawyer check it before going live.
The cookie consent banner is off by default; while it's off, the panel's visitor statistics are kept without storing anything on the visitor's device. If you add a service to your site that uses cookies, turn the banner on; visitors are then offered Accept, Reject and Preferences. If someone asks for their data to be deleted, find them by email or phone on the Settings › Tools › Personal data screen and export or anonymize their data. Step-by-step guide in the panel: Help › KVKK: personal data, privacy notice and cookies.
Part 5 · Contact Contact, forms and business email
A contact page shouldn't be just a form. Some customers call, some write, some look for the address. Give the phone, email, full address, map and working hours together.
Requests from your form land on the Features › Requests and bookings screen in the panel, and you get an email notification at the same time; this is available on the free plan too. On the Professional plan you can assign a request to a team member, track its status and set reminders. Details: managing site requests.
Using an address on your own domain (info@yourcompany.com) instead of a gmail address noticeably increases trust. In the Heyşirket panel, a mailbox on your own domain comes with 1 address on the Starter plan. We explain how to open one in how to set up business email.
