Connecting your own domain to your website: the complete guide

Wherever you bought your domain, the logic is the same: the panel gives you a few DNS records, you enter them at your registrar, and the panel takes care of verification.

In short

Your site is already live at a free subdomain like ornekklinik.heysirket.com. When you connect your own domain, the same site opens at ornekklinik.com. The Starter plan includes 1 custom domain for free. This article explains the general logic that applies to every provider; for provider-specific notes, see the related article.

Part 1 Three concepts first

What you need to know
ConceptWhat it meansIts job here
DNSThe internet's phone book for domainsSends visitors to your domain to the right server
CNAMEA record that points one name to anotherPoints your domain to your Heyşirket site
TXTA text recordVerifies that you own the domain and validates the SSL certificate
@Root domainornekklinik.com itself
wwwSubdomainwww.ornekklinik.com

Part 2 Add your domain in the panel

  1. Open the Domains screen

Settings › Domains. The top shows how many domains you're using (e.g. 0 / 1).

  2. Type your domain

In the Add domain field, type your domain without www: ornekklinik.com. www.ornekklinik.com is connected automatically too and redirects visitors to the root address.

  3. Keep the records table open

The panel shows a table: Type, Name (Host), Value (Target), Purpose. Each row has a copy button next to it. Copy the target value from the panel; don't type it by hand.

Part 3 Enter the records at your registrar

  1. Find DNS management

Sign in to the panel of the provider you bought your domain from and open the DNS management, DNS records or zone records page.

  2. Delete old records

Delete any old A, AAAA or CNAME records with the name (Host) from the table. Two records can't share the same name.

  3. Add the CNAME

Type CNAME, Host the short name from the table (@ or www), Value the target from the panel. Some panels require a trailing dot at the end of the target.

  4. Add the TXT records

Add each TXT row by copying its Host and Value; TTL can stay at the default (300–3600).

  5. Refresh the status

Click Refresh status in the panel. The status moves from Pending → Verifying → Active.

Part 4 Statuses and common mistakes

What you seeWhat it meansWhat to do
PendingRecords aren't visible yetCheck the records, wait a bit, then Refresh status
VerifyingRecords found, SSL being preparedJust wait
ActiveDomain connected, SSL activeShare your address
ErrorA record is wrong or conflictingRead the error message in the panel and delete old records

Do I need to buy an SSL certificate?

No. Once TXT verification is complete, the SSL certificate is installed and renewed automatically.

Will my email be affected?

As long as you don't touch your MX records, your email service won't be affected. Only change the names listed in the table.

What happens if I remove the domain?

Your site will no longer open at that address and the SSL certificate is deleted; your free subdomain keeps working. You can delete your DNS records separately.

Add your domain See your records, enter them at your registrar and let the panel track verification. Open Domains
