Connecting a GoDaddy domain to your Heyşirket site
Connecting the www record on GoDaddy is easy; the root domain takes a little more thought. We cover both options: forwarding and moving your DNS.
In short
- Add your domain in the Heyşirket panel under Settings › Domains to get your records table.
- On GoDaddy, records are usually added on the domain's DNS management page; menu names may vary.
- Point the www CNAME record to the target shown in the panel; delete the old www record first.
- If you can't add a CNAME at the root, you can forward the root to www with GoDaddy's forwarding option or move your DNS to Cloudflare.
GoDaddy is one of the world's largest domain registrars, and its panel can be used in English or Turkish. If your domain is registered there, adding a few DNS records on GoDaddy is all it takes to connect it to your Heyşirket site. For the basics, you may want to read connecting your own domain first.
Part 1 First, get your records from Heyşirket
Add your domain
In Settings › Domains › Add domain, type your domain without www (e.g. ornekklinik.com).
Copy the table
Use the copy buttons to grab the CNAME and TXT rows (Name/Host and Value/Target) the panel gives you.
Part 2 Connect www on GoDaddy
Open the DNS page
In your GoDaddy account, select your domain and go to its DNS management page (usually labeled "DNS" or "Manage DNS"; this may change with panel updates).
Edit the existing www record
GoDaddy often has a www CNAME record set up already. Instead of adding a new one, change its value to the target shown in the panel, or delete it and add a new one.
Add the TXT records
Add a new TXT record for each TXT row in the table; copy the name and value.
Save
Save your changes and click Refresh status in the Heyşirket panel.
Part 3 The root domain: two options
Visitors often type your address without www. GoDaddy's standard DNS may not allow a CNAME for the root domain (@). There are two practical options:
| Option | How | Pros / cons |
|---|---|---|
| Forwarding | Use the domain's forwarding setting on GoDaddy to permanently (301) redirect the root to https://www.ornekklinik.com | Quick; your site is published at the www address |
| Moving DNS to Cloudflare | Switch the domain's nameservers to your free Cloudflare account and add the records there | The root opens directly too; a few extra steps |
Part 4 Check and wait
In the Heyşirket panel, the status moves from Pending → Verifying → Active. DNS changes take anywhere from 5 minutes to 24 hours to propagate. If you see Error, check the reason the panel gives; the most common cause is an old www record that wasn't deleted.
Checklist
- The www record points to the target shown in the panel
- TXT records are added
- You've decided between forwarding and Cloudflare for the root
- The parking page record is removed
- MX (email) records are left untouched
Do I need to transfer my domain away from GoDaddy?
No. The domain stays with GoDaddy; only the DNS records change.
I have a website plan with GoDaddy. What happens to it?
Once you point your domain to Heyşirket, your site opens from Heyşirket. You can choose not to renew the plan you no longer use.
Will forwarding cause problems with Google?
A permanent (301) redirect is the method Google recommends; it lets you use a single main address.
